SPF gets a lot of hype. Is it really necessary? What SPF is best? What is broad spectrum? I tell my clients the two most important skincare habits one can develop are washing your face and wearing SPF every single day. Yes, even in the dead of winter, even if you are inside.
Wearing SPF can help to protect your skin from UVA, UVB, and HEV lights, as well as working to protect your skin and reduce your chance of developing skin cancer. Even when you are indoors, your catch the harmful rays through windows when driving or sitting in a sunny room. Sun damage caused by UVB rays is the number one cause of premature aging. Additionally, that damage under the skin we cannot see is the precursor for damaged cells that could lead to cancer. That’s why it’s so important to apply, reapply, and wear it every single day.
It is never too late to start protecting your skin. Even if you’ve never done it before, tomorrow is a new day, and picking up the SPF is always a great idea.
Many women are hesitant to wear sunscreen because they don’t like the way it feels. I have tried them all and this daily facial sunscreen is my absolute favorite. Also, check out all my sunscreen FAQ’s answered in detail here.
