Q: How do Avapure products stay good if they don't have traditional preservatives?
A: Avapure products do not contain traditional paraben based preservatives. We use an EcoCERT preservative system approved for organic products. Typical shelf life is one year from purchase. However, feel free to reach out if you have specific questions about products you purchased.
To preserve the shelf life of your Avapure products, practice the following:
Use clean dry hands to remove the product from jars.
Avoid getting water into your products.
Store products in a cool dark place, never in the sun or heat.
Q: Can I get Avapure products customized?
A: Since I make my products in small batches, it is often possible to customize your order. Some products allow for this much easier than others such as body sprays, sugar scrubs, bath salts, and lotions. If you see something that you like, but want it customized to fit your needs, just email your request. I will let you know your options and possibilities.
Q. Is it normal for my product to change consistency?
A: Many of the oils and butters that are in Avapure products naturally change from an oil state to a solid state and vise versa with temperature change. That being said, it is possible, and okay, for some to change consistency. Just keep in mind that extreme temperature changes are not good for Avapure products (leaving in sun or in car is not recommended). If you do refrigerate your product, it will solidify. Leave it out a few minutes and it will soften up. If you want to use it immediately, rub it between the palm of your hands to warm it and it will become more liquify. However, it is nice using a cold lotion, especially during the summer!
Q. How long will my products last?
A: Products that include a water and oil base and are made without traditional synthetic preservatives generally last 6-12 months when handled properly. If the product is dry, or contains only an oil base, it will last longer. Remember, clean dry hands- or better yet a scooping spoon for products that are in jars. Follow my suggestions listed under question 1 and you will get the most out of your Avapure products.
Q. I have super sensitive skin. Can I use Avapure products?
A: Many Avapure customers have actually switched to Avapure because the products are perfect for their delicate, sensitive skin. Most skin irritants are the parabens and other synthetic ingredients found in most products. Since Avapure products are just simple ingredients, they are extremely gentle and perfect for all skin types-even sensitive.
Q. Will my skin go through a transition period?
A: Some people do experience a transition phase when switching to Avapure products. It really depends on the toxicity of your previous routine. Think about when a person detoxes their body...when omitting all the fillers, preservatives, and unhealthy ingredients, the body feels a bit worse before it feels better. The same goes for detoxing your skin. It may look and feel a bit worse before it gets better-but I promise it's not as bad as you are imagining and it is so worth it.
