28. That’s the number of symptoms that I’ve had consistently for a long period of time that could be linked to my 16 year old breast implants. These symptoms range from musculoskeletal system symptoms, diagnosis of autoimmune disorders, cognitive symptoms and overall systematic symptoms. They are significant and impede daily function. There are more than 50 symptoms reported and documented with a suspected link to breast implants.
39. That’s the number of suspected toxins found in implants. There’s a good chance there are even more. When I made the decision to get breast implants, silicone implants had recently returned to the market after being pulled for suspicion of causing harm to women. I thought by choosing saline, I was choosing a safe option. However, in saline implants, the shell itself is made of silicone. That silicone consists of carcinogens, neurotoxins, heavy metals, allergens… Additionally, it is a foreign object. Anytime the body has something in it that isn’t supposed to be there it goes into fight mode. This fight mode in so many women is what has led to women all over speaking out bringing awareness to the side effects of breast implants.
Breast Implant Illness awareness is taking over. Women all over are having their implants removed. Even some celebrity women have opted for removal after falling ill several years after getting implants. The numbers have increased so rapidly in June of 2022, the FDA announced plans to study how patients weigh the benefits and risks associated with breast implants.
This is a small step, but it is progress.
I’m 4 days post op and have no doubt this was the right decision for me.
