Many years ago upon stumbling across some health and fertility issues, I learned about the harmful ingredients in many skincare products, including the products I was dedicated to at the time. I did a mindful purge and literally trashed everything in my cabinet and headed out to the beloved Target to find me some new ‘natural’ products. I found something that had all the claims: natural, plant based, and healthy. It was a well-known national brand with fun eco looking packaging and green “earthly” lettering. I bought up an entire regimen and happily swapped everything out. I continued my diligent research and came to the realization that I had been totally duped into purchasing products that did not live up to my standards of non-toxic and healthy. To my surprise, most of the products I researched had all the catchy labels but nothing notable to offer. Behind a few ingredients that once upon a time came from a natural source were synthetics, heavily processed, and heavily preserved products. It was then I decided to take matters into my own hands…skincare became my hobby.
This was nearly 10 years ago and fortunately the options are more plentiful now in regards to healthier products. This, I believe, is due to the fact that consumers have gradually become more knowledgeable in the trickery that was played with labeling and stopped purchasing toxin laden products, and began swapping them out for more sustainable, earth friendly and health conscious products. Determined to be in complete control of what I slathered on daily, I took matters into my own hands and began crafting products myself. After a few years, the hobby became caught notice and things got serious. I had to further educate myself regarding labeling regulations, manufacturing regulations, natural methods of preservation, pricing, sourcing, taxes…the list goes on and on. As I gained experience and knowledge, battled the trials and tribulations of being an entrepreneur, I decided this mission was meant for me.
Avapure isn’t my only job. I run another full-time business that is extremely demanding of my time. Each year when I close out my year end summary I debate, is it worth it? My answer is always, most definitely YES! I am committed to every aspect of this journey. I want to provide customers with affordable, safe skincare products. I strive to help teach people about the mission behind this business. It really does matter what we put on our skin day in and day out. It really does matter what products we choose for our kids. Products with ingredients you recognize, derived from nutrient dense plants can truly change us – inside and out! Customers often confirm my dedication to Avapure, with the fear I will choose to give the business up. I can assure you, this is my mission. I will never choose a different product other than Avapure for my family or myself. If I am making it for myself, I may as well offer it to others looking for safe, quality, affordable products. So, Avapure is here to stay!
Customers can look forward to new products this year as well as monthly specials. My ideas for new products and growth is never ending. For those curious as to what is to come, be on the lookout over the next few months for additional mask tonics, baby butt balm, a men’s line, additional aromatherapy/ perfume alternative roll-ons, a new facial cleanser and a few other specialty products. I also plan to expand my aromatherapy/ herbal line to help customers transition over their medicine cabinet. I also would love to implement a monthly reordering system and monthly product sets that are discounted (think scent of the month- lotion, scrub and body wash in a package deal).
Here’s to looking forward to 2019 and what this year brings. I am excited about the new green beauty transition inquiries I have received already this month. Every single person I can assist to swap out toxic products is a win! Please reach out if you need help adding the perfect non-toxic products to your beauty regimen.
